About Hawaiʻi’s Child Care Cost Modeling (CCCM) Initiative
Key early care and learning systems advocates and service providers in Hawaiʻi are working to identify the true cost of providing quality child care for children birth to kindergarten across the state through a child care cost model for licensed centers and registered family child care homes.
A Hawaiʻi coalition of state partners was selected as part of a national cohort to receive Childrenʻs Funding Project (CFP) supports for building capacity and expertise to complete the child care cost model in Hawaiʻi. Information will be used to drive policy solutions and funding priorities to improve access to high quality child care and early learning in Hawaiʻi.
The primary component of the CCCM project involves the collection of information directly from licensed, community-based child care programs. The Child Care Provider Survey is designed to collect data on the expenses needed to sustain services, as well as any and all revenue sources that support child care services.
