ACTION STRATEGY

ECAS Team 4 is working to increase access to early childhood programs and services across Hawai‘i, and is working to resolve program and service gaps community by community.

Fewer than half of children under the age of 5 with all parents in the labor force lack access to child care registered with the Department of Human Services.
  • Hawaiʻi has 66,262 children under the age of 6 with all parents in the labor force.

  • As of July, 2021, there were 833 child care providers registered with the Department of Human Services, with a total desired capacity of in the state with a combined capacity to provide care for 19,290 children aged 0-5.
